Advising

General Information

Candidates seeking licensure at Colorado State University must meet regularly with a key education adviser. Among many abilities, advisers have the knowledge and skill to:

  • answer general and specific questions about licensure and the degree programs,
  • plan a course of study and support course substitutions,
  • assist the candidate with admission to the Licensure Program,
  • share up-to-date information on licensure requirements (admission, student teaching, PLACE© exam, etc.), and
  • assist the candidate in utilizing campus resources.

Undergraduate Candidates for Licensure: In some cases, one faculty adviser serves as both the degree and licensure adviser. In other cases, undergraduate candidates will find that they will have a degree adviser as well as a key education adviser. This is dependent upon the licensing/endorsement area.

Post Bachelor Candidates for Licensure: Most post bachelor candidates have only one adviser assigned to assist him/her with licensure. For those candidates pursuing a master's degree, two advisers may be necessary.

Connect with an Adviser: To make an appointment with an adviser, please refer to the Adviser Contacts / Departmental Contacts list (below) and feel free to contact the STEPP Advising Office at 970-491-5292 for assistance.
